When will India ban Blackberry
There are hundreds and thousands of users of the Blackberry mobile phones in India, the world’s fastest growing mobile market. RIM, the company that owns the Blackberry brand, says that the negotiations are still on with the government on the various security issues raised by the government.
The government is now reviewing the latest offer for limited data access by the company and would take a final call in the next few weeks. The company has to either provide full access to the data generated by the company on a real time basis or it has to face ban. The company would stand to lose most of the customers who are high value users, once it agrees to share data on a real time basis with the government.
Either way it seems to be bad for the company, and it is only a question of time before the inevitable happens. Most probably the company may share all the data with the government without publicizing the agreement.
